The main slogan of this initiative organized by the Volleyball Federation of Serbia was “confident that we share the same attitude: let’s make our Volleyball clubs and our Volleyball leagues even better!” The participants were encouraged to make more efforts, to show more dedication, and more energy in making Volleyball even better than at the present time, in the mutual interest of all Volleyball clubs in the country and the Volleyball Federation of Serbia.

The meeting was attended by Mr. Aleksandar Boričić, President of the Volleyball Federation of Serbia, and Mr. Dragan Atanasov, Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports in the Serbian Government, along with Mr. Slobodan Milošević, Secretary General, Mr. Nenad Golijanin, First Vice-President, and Mr. Igor Kolaković, head coach of Serbia men’s national team that recently won bronze at the 2013 CEV VELUX EuroVolley in Copenhagen.   Representatives of the clubs were addressed by Mr. Aleksandar Boričić and Mr. Dragan Atanasov, and then by the moderator of the meeting, Mr. Zoran Avramović, Marketing Director of the Volleyball Federation of Serbia, who gave a lecture about the status and perspectives of Volleyball clubs in the country.

“The slogan we chose for this meeting tells everything by itself, but for me even more interesting it is the phrase that follows, i.e. that we want to make Volleyball in Serbia better. That is the first step in making Volleyball clubs aware that we cannot make anything out of thin air, we must work hard. It is a privilege to be a part of this wonderful sport, but we have to go further, we have to go beyond conventional boundaries, and make the most of the technologies that this millennium is offering. The means and the ways of communicating now are so powerful, and even though these things in our situation could sound like a utopia, I must remind you that each and every progress started as a utopian vision. We have to have web presentations, we have to interact with young people, to be more open in our communities, and that is precisely why I picked out the term “O2”, i.e. oxygen, in other words two-way communication that represent the openness to new ideas, new social groups, new ways of advertising. We have to be persistent in our efforts, and then, I am sure, the world of Volleyball will be much, much better”, said Zoran Avramović, Marketing Director of the Volleyball Federation of Serbia.

During the discussion various proposals were heard, and Mr. Aleksandar Boričić, Mr. Dragan Atanasov, and Mr. Zoran Avramović debated with the participants. It was pointed out that the average player’s age in the Wiener Städtische Superleague is 21 (19.4 in the women’s competition and 22.8 in the men’s division), which makes it one of the youngest and most perspective leagues in the world. That is certainly a great starting point for every future development project.

The next event will take place at the end of the 2013/2014 season, and then a summary of the results achieved over the course of the year will be presented to the audience.

Upon completion of the official part, a lunch was organized for all the participants who later attended the Serbia’s Super Cup match between Crvena Zvezda BEOGRAD and Radnički KRAGUJEVAC.
