Romania’s Tomis CONSTANTA will play on Wednesday JASTRZEBSKI Wegiel of Poland for the third round of action in preliminary Pool F of the 2014 CEV DenizBank Volleyball Champions League – Men. These teams are currently fighting for second place in the group as Halkbank ANKARA has claimed two victories so far while Tomis and JASTRZEBSKI could both edge Hypo Tirol INNSBRUCK in their respective matches with Austria’s vice-champions.

After losing last Wednesday to Halkbank, Tomis CONSTANTA does not want to disappoint the home fans once more and their goal is to seize the night so as to keep alive their chances to make the Playoffs 12. The outcome of this game is very difficult to predict.

“I can’t say that I am optimistic going into this game” says Tomis head coach Martin Stoev, “because our opponents have a very good roster. They are not as strong as Halkbank but they compete in a very strong national league. Last Wednesday we could see that we could play well also with Halkbank so I expect a good game. JASTRZEBSKI opposite Michal Lasko is even better than Mitar Tzourits who plays in that position for Halkbank and their middle-blockers are also stronger than those of the team from Turkey” he adds.

“JASTRZEBSKI is another strong opponent. We have shown that we could play at eye level with Halkbank but to edge the team from Poland we need to perform even better than we did with ANKARA” says Tomis team captain Andrey Zhekov.

“After what we have seen in the game with Halkbank I think we can hope to finish second in the Pool” stresses club President Sorin Strutinsky. “I believe that we have got our chances against our next opponent.”
