Five teams competed in the boy’s competition which was organized in a round-robin format. The teams were Denmark, Faroe Islands, Finland, Iceland and Sweden.
The first day of competition saw two five-setters where Denmark edged Sweden 15-13 in the tiebreaker while Iceland came back from two sets down to beat the Faroe Islands with 15-12 in the decider.
As Sweden lost their second match on the opening day – losing 3-1 to Finland – the gold was going to be a show-piece between Denmark and defending champions Finland in the last match of the competition on Sunday.
There, Finland powered past Denmark in straight sets winning 25-20, 25-12 and 25-16 to hold on to the title they retained last year. In total, this was Finland’s 7th title since the inauguration of the competition in 2004. Only Sweden has ever managed to knock Finland off the throne; in 2008 and 2010.
