The Cuban superstar Wilfredo León is one of a small number of male volleyball players that can choose in which club in the world he would like to play. Everyone would be happy to have him in the squad, but León’s heart has been with Zenit Kazan from Russia for nearly four years.

Recall that an Italian powerhouse Perugia is the most serious contenders to engage the Cuban for the next season.

“Now, there are so many calls and negotiations. I can say the main thing – I will definitely finish the season in Kazan. We are talking about a new contract with Zenit, but there are a lot of proposals. The agent calls me almost every day and says that someone is interested in me,” León said to Sport-Express and confirmed Zenit will have the priority in the negotiations.

“First of all, I will consider the proposal from Zenit. And even if I leave, whenever it happens, I will speak with Kazan first. You know, when I could not play for the whole year, Vladimir Alekno did not doubt me at all. He called me. I came to Kazan, trained here 27 days and he signed a contract with me. The coach looked at my condition and was pleased,” León added.

Out of all seasons of León in Zenit, the ongoing season is the best for him in terms of scored points and served aces, while 2015/16 was the most fruitful when it comes to positive reception and kill blocks.
