Galatasaray vs. Fenerbahce
In a rerun of the last season’s playoff finals, Fenerbahçe beat Galatasaray in a big Istanbul derby by a 3-1 (25-18, 17-25, 25-14, 25-23) to reach a 5-0 record in the rankings. Counting the playoff finals from 2016/17, ‘Fener’ made a four-game winning streak against their fierce rivals.
The experienced middle blocker Eda Erdem Dündar was, without any doubt, the most prominent figure in the match. She scored 18 points of which 9 came from the service! Actually, she and Polen Uslupehlivan exchanged roles today since a 27-year-old opposite did a great job in a segment of a play in which Eda usually dominates – blocking. Polen made 5 blocks and, as we mentioned, was replaced in making aces with Eda.
In Galatasaray, Neslihan Demir Güler scored 16 points while Gamze Alikaya showed that ’Galata’ have a highly dangerous server as well. A 24-year-old setter scored 5 aces.
