Only PGE Skra Bełchatów can win Polish Cup by making such an amazing turnaround in tie-break after trailing 8-3! Skra took seventh trophy in this competition, first after four years, by beating ZAKSA Kędzierzyn-Koźle 3-2 (12-25, 25-23, 22-25, 28-26, 19-17)!

What could we say about the first set? Zaksa’s players were on high level while Falasca’s team was struggling even to score a point. The French setter Benjamin Toniutti had some classy touches during the first part of the game. His amazing sets pushed Zaksa to the lead 25-12!

In the second set we saw the answer of Skra! The team from Bełchatów started playing much better and were leading all the time in the second set. But, Zaksa managed to tie the score in one moment – 22-22. But, Uriarte went to the service line and led his team to 24-22! Afterwards, Conte tied the score 1-1 (25-23).

At the beggining of the third set, the leader of Plusliga again started to dominate and quickly went to 8-4 lead. They managed to keep it until the second TTO. Skra made a 3-0 scoring run and the set became uncertain again. But, Zaksa were more focused at the very end of the set and after Buszek‘s point, De Giorgi‘s team got the lead again 2-1 (25-22).

In Set 4, Zaksa had promising gap at first TTO 8-5. Skra’s players were very nervous since they totally lost strings of the game. Even their coach Falasca received red card (point awarded to Zaksa at 7-5) and argued with Wlazły at time-out. But, it seemed to make positive influence on Wlazły since he was flawless in rest of the set in which Skra made turnaround and took 22-20 lead. Zaksa had 3-0 run and three match balls, but Skra converted their first. Miniature by Lisinac at 26-26 (block on Deroo and 1st tempo) took the match into tie-break 28-26.

There, until the finish, only one team existed on court – Zaksa. At 4-3 for them, Wlazły committed two consecutive net invasions, Gladyr blocked Wlazły while Zaksa also converted two counter attacks for 4-0 run (8-3). Zaksa’s coach De Giorgi leveled with Falasca in red cards by complaining to umpire on, which he thought as irregular substitution of Skra. That situation pissed off Skra’s players, who approached to 12-11, but lost Wlazły who sustained muscle strain. In intense finish, Skra’s experience decided. Deroo spiked out of bounds for 19-17!

Top scorers: SkraFacundo Conte 23 points; ZaksaDawid Konarski 20 points.
