In their final Pool E match at the 2022 FIVB Volleyball Women’s World Championship in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, the national team of China defeated Belgium 3-0 (25-18, 25-18, 27-25) in a direct duel for one of the two remaining quarter-final berths across both Phase 2 pools. Regardless of the other results later in the day, the Chinese secured the quarter-final spot with their victory.

With 16 points, Li Yingying was the leading scorer for the victorious team. Yuan Xinyue placed 4 aces on the rival’s side of the court. Britt Herbots, a Belgian outside hitter, led her team in scoring with 21 points. China settled at No. 4 in the pool with 7-2 and 20 points and will face Italy, who won Pool E, for a position in one of the semi-finals.

Japan defeated the co-hosts, the Netherlands, in straight sets, 3-0 (25-23, 25-23, 25-21), to fill in the last quarter-final slot from the third place (7-2; 21 points) in the charts. Mayu Ishikawa and Arisa Inoue highlighted Japan’s attack with 15 points apiece. The Dutch captain, Anne Buijs, scored the same number of points for her team.

Japanese players will have a difficult job in the quarter-finals, facing the pool’s No. 2 and world’s No. 1, Brazil.
