VNL M: Canada, Slovenia, and Poland Secure Victories on Closing Day of VNL2023 Pool 6 in the Philippines

In the final day of the 3rd week of the VNL2023 Pool 6, held in the Philippines, Canada, Slovenia, and Poland emerged as victorious teams.

The first match of the day saw Canada triumph over China with a score of 3-1 (23-25, 25-21, 25-17, 25-18). This victory secured Canada’s spot in the VNL 2024. Stephen Maar and Ryan Sclater were instrumental in leading Canada to success, as they both contributed 20 points each. However, the match’s top scorer was Jingyin Zhang from the Chinese national team, who scored an impressive 25 points.

Slovenia concluded their Preliminary Phase on a positive note with a resounding 3-0 (25-20, 32-30, 25-22) victory over the Netherlands. Nimir Abdel-Aziz was the match top scorer, contributing 22 points. Tine Urnaut and Klemen Cebulj played pivotal roles for Slovenia, scoring 14 and 13 points, respectively.

In the final game of Pool 6 in the Philippines, Poland delivered a convincing performance, defeating the table leaders, Japan, with a score of 3-0 (25-17, 25-19, 25-18). Wilfredo Leon emerged as the best scorer of the match, contributing 16 points for the Polish team. Tatsunori Otsuka stood out as Japan’s most productive player, with 11 points, while Yuji Nishida and Yuki Ishikawa added 9 and 7 points, respectively.
