After four seasons, UPCN Voley and Nikolay Uchikov parted ways by mutual agreement.

UPCN Voley announced the sad news for their fans. In the letter, they said that one of the best players is no longer a UPCN member and that the Bulgarian opposite Nikolay Uchikov is now on the market.

His position will be occupied by the Polish player Zbigniew Bartman.

We must say that in the past three seasons but also in this one, Uchikov was one of the main stars of the Argentine team. From 2014 until now he scored 1923 points in 118 matches!

He won two titles (2015, 2016), one ACLAV Cup (2015), one South American Championship (2015) and two Master Cups (2014, 2017).

In season 2017/2018 he played only 12 matches and scored 158 points and at the end of the 2014/2015, he was the top scorer of the season, while after 2015/2016, he was the best opposite, best foreign player, top scorer of the season and MVP of the finals.

WC 2019 W: Brazil beat weakened team of Serbia in thriller, China win Asian derby

Because the VNL consists of teams that have been invited by the FIVB, rather than have truly qualified for it based on competitive criteria. These teams (e.g. Belgium & Slovenia with the men) would unjustifiedly lose a lot of points on the ranking because they didn't pay the FIVB enough to participate. on the other hand weak teams like South Korea would see their ranking go up just purely by participating.

In its current format the VNL is nothing but a worthless demonstration tournament of friendly games... :-(

The results of the VNLs don't give the participating national teams any points for the FIVB rankings. Does anybody or WorldofVolley has any idea, why? Reply
