RUS W: Goncharova - "Vakifbank is a serious team with a great coach"

A title in the Champions League is something that is missing in Nataliya Goncharova’s trophy room.

However, in front of her is a big challenge since the rival is Vakifbank. Before this challenge, they played a game in the Russian league against Dinamo Metar, winning it in straight sets.

We played burdened in this game, it was physically hard, but we are preparing for the Champions League. As a result, everyone played, everyone got a game practice. Vakifbank is a very serious team, the winner of the Champions League, I think that they are even stronger than Fenerbahce. Very systematic team with experienced players and a strong coach. Against them, you also need to play very disciplined, focused, not to make mistakes,” says Goncharova.

A game between Dinamo Moscow and Vakfibank will be played on Wednesday at 17:00 CET in the capital of Russia.

Re: @Cjango
Vakifbank is a serious team, but an angry Vakifbank is a much much serious team. in istanbul you can expect vakif's straight win with set scores like 25-8, 25-12 or so. :D let's wait and see.

I was trying to view the match live via Internet but couldn't. I am in the US. Vakifbank has defeated them all prior times so this was a surprised. The match was close but I don't know what the key is on why Vakifbank did not not win. Poor defense, blocking, ...? I know reading from the stats that their offense efficiency was not high.

For sure, Vakif did play with anger. They all came out firing especially the blocking. Rasic had a huge game. Now with Ecz being gone. This should be an easy road the the champsionship.

This is just the proof how long are promises honored in professional volleyball. Last year Lube said that Stankovic, belowed El Capetano, will be coming back next year when he obtain Italian citizenship, he's been with Lube for 10 years, and we want him back. Reply

RUS W: Karpol enters Guinness World Records!

Watching Nikolay Karpol and Yevgeni Trefilov (handball, head coach of the Russia women's national team) during the timeouts always made me feel sorry for these girls and was amusing at the same time. They both created the stereotypical image of a typical Russian coach – a big guy, always unsatisfied and yelling at everyone :) Still they both achieved a lot and it cannot be denied. Reply
