Russian player has revealed the whole situation about his doping scandal in the interview for Sport FM.
“They have found meldonium in my doping sample A after the European Olympic Qualifier semifinals game against Germany. One month later, on February 10, I received results and I was temporarily suspended from all competitions. It is frustrating. Why it was kept a secret? The lawyers said that it would be better not to announce anything, but it was only a matter of time when the press would find out. Meldonium was banned on January 1, 2016, while I was taking it between December 3 and December 13. It was a mutual decision between me and the club. At that time, I had to play a lot of games without substitution… My body is just not from iron. The doctors said that the drug will stay in my body for 20 days at most. But, it has obviously stayed longer…” said Markin.
