ACPV Manager Ivan Miljković is already setting his sights on the challenges ahead.
“Many clubs and leagues invited us to sit together and talk about future collaborations. We want to listen to their needs and concerns and work on solutions.”
In order to see the bigger picture, the 2002 Olympic champion decided to learn from other kinds of sports, too.
“In my opinion, other kinds of sports like football, ice hockey, basketball, and handball have led the way. We have to analyze their models and our own for our beloved sport. We as volleyball family can only grow if we are willing to learn from others. That is why we must work closely with partners in other sports.”
Miljković is convinced this knowledge is desperately needed in club volleyball.
“Clubs are the cornerstone of every team sport. They form the players of the national teams and make a living. Thus, volleyball can only grow if club volleyball grows. Since the majority of clubs are not satisfied with the status quo, we have to change it; or volleyball will fall behind in comparison to other team sports.”
Therefore, ACPV President Stav Jacobi wants to extend the dialogue and the collaboration with federations, clubs, and leagues from other forms of sport.
“The ACPV is not only in close contact with the clubs and institutions in volleyball but with federations and clubs from other kinds of sports, too. In the upcoming year, we want to work even closer with them to take club volleyball to a whole new level. Because clubs in other sports have stood shoulder-to-shoulder and fought for their common interest for many years.”
Former player Ivan Miljković is to present the insights from these collaborations with organizations and clubs from other sports to the members of the ACPV soon.
“The ACPV have gathered a lot of knowledge around sports promotion and sports management. We are looking forward to sharing this knowledge with our members in 2019. Because knowledge definitely is power.”
On the other hand, ACPV General Manager Ivan Miljković wants to intensify the collaboration with the international volleyball federations in 2019.
“We are gathering a lot of information from the clubs concerning the big challenges professional volleyball clubs are facing at the moment. Henceforth, we want to sit together with the federations and show them what it takes to grow club volleyball – and volleyball in general.”
Undoubtedly, the volleyball family can look forward to a game-changing 2019 for club volleyball.
