Dominican Republic: Two-day Development Plan Seminar in Santo Domingo

Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, January 19, 2012 – The FIVB Regional Development Center in Dominican Republic began a two-day Seminar of NORCECA Development Plan on Thursday. The participants are coaches and instructors from Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Costa Rica, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Nicaragua, Puerto Rico, Trinidad and Tobago and United States. Mr. Juan Cartagena of Puerto Rico is the coordinator of the seminar.

The opening ceremony was presided over by Mr. Cristobal Marte Hoffiz, 1st Executive Vice President of FIVB and President of NORCECA and was attended also by Mr. Luis Mejia Oviedo, President of the Dominican Republic Olympic Committee, Ms Marta Centeno de Sajche, FIVB Executive Vice President and Mr. Mushtaque Mohammed, member of the FIVB Board of Administration.

The items of the seminar include: The structure of NORCECA Development Plan, FIVB Development Plan, Standarization of Technical Approach, Mass Volleyball, Mini-Volley, Sitting Volleyball, School Volleyball, Coaches’s Role, Countries Development and Scouting, Recruiting and selection of talents.

Besides Marte Hoffiz, Cartagena and Mohammed, the instructors are: Eugenio George, John Kessel, Nelson Ramirez, Justo Morales, Chrissy Benz, Rene Quintana, Francisco Cruz, Angel Peña, Argelio Hernandez and Roosevelt Comarazamy.
