FIVB, chaired by Brazilian Ary Graca, gave in to pressure from the European clubs and changed the date of this year's Club World Championship. The competition was confirmed to for May 8 - 15. The main clubs in Europe threatened not to play this competition and FIVB was forced to change the calendar.

Thus, the event will be held again in October, no date set.

Sollys/Osasco and Trentino, are the current world champions.
