Three Japanese Volleyball fans have traveled 8,700 km from Tokyo to make it to Denmark and follow the matches of the CEV VELUX EuroVolley 2013. Shino, Harumi, and Emi are all very excited about their stay in Denmark and have so far enjoyed the right combination between world-class Volleyball matches and some sightseeing.

Their passion for Volleyball dates to some years ago, especially for Shino who got to see the Yugoslav national team on television back in 1998 as Japan was hosting the World Championship. Since then she has been following very closely all performances of the Serbian national team and she has come to Denmark especially to cheer on her favorite heroes. Together with her friends she was among the first foreign people to buy tickets for the EuroVolley and also for the final weekend at Parken stadium in Copenhagen.

Their stay in Denmark got started last week as they followed the matches of prelim Pool C in Herning and after that they traveled to Aarhus to attend the Playoffs and 1/4 finals.

“We have visited the downtown and went for shopping here in Aarhus. We have visited the local cathedral and some more beautiful churches” said Rie. “We have tasted Danish food and pastry and we liked it. I also like your beer, Tuborg, I usually have one every single night after the matches. What we do not like at all is that black candy, made of licorice, which is terribly salty. We may take a bag home to Japan only to tease our friends” she continued.

As they were walking around in Aarhus, the girls got lost but finally the Danish people helped them find their way back home. “We got lost yesterday and did not know where we were. However, the people were really nice and especially a bus driver did help us find our way home. He stopped the bus so that we could walk straight to our hotel” added Shino.

After following the 1/4 final matches starring Finland vs. Italy and Belgium vs. Serbia the Japanese girls will travel to Copenhagen to have a look at the Little Mermaid and follow the semifinal and final matches of the VELUX EuroVolley 2013 together with fans from as many as 33 countries, including Canada, USA, and Australia.
