ARG W: Argentine Women League: Four regions 2nd round ended

Argentine A1 Women League enjoyed an outstanding weekend of competition with the development of four of the total six regions of the second phase taking place. Read latest volleyball news on Worldofvolley.com.

There are already eight teams qualified for the third round of the tournament and next weekend the other two regions will compete.

Pool A took place at Catamarca city of Belen, four hours of travelling from the Capital city of the province in the middle of a beautiful mountain scenery. All the city was happy to welcome an outstanding volleyball event welcoming the teams that played there with Mendoza de Regatas and San Jose de Entre Rios qualifying for the next round. On Saturday at the end of the second date they overcame Gimnasia de La Plata and Sportivo Olmos y Aguilera (the host team) and on Sunday definition they played an outstanding and exciting tie breaker of over 2 and half hours to declare the winner of the pool.

Pool F in Cordoba capital city hosted by Unión Eléctrica also showed very emotional matches with the home team and Gimnasia y Esgrima de Santa Fe, both qualified, also finished playing a tie.breaker at the end of the competition round. The Pool was completed by San Martín de Viedma and Universidad Nacional del Sur.

Pool D meanwhile in Formosa, also qualified two teams but among three participant teams. At Centenario Stadium, a typical National Men Team and A1 Men League venue, San Martín de Formosa and San Lorenzo obtained the places eliminating Olimpo de Bahía Blanca.

Finally, Pool C in Mar del Plata, showed the title holder and organizer of the pool, Boca Juniors qualify together with Mar Chiquita overcoming the Patagonian Amigos de Laprida from Comodoro Rivadavia.

Now, this next weekend, two three teams pools will take place, October 19th – 21st. On one side Caja Popular de Tucumán stadium will welcome Fundarte – as host team – and El Tala de San Francisco and Vélez Sarsfield in Pool B while on the same dates, in San Juan Pool E with Universidad Nacional de San Juan as host team will face Sociedad Sportiva Devoto and Villa Dora.

Once this two competitions take place all teams qualified for the third round will be knwon. Each pool will qualify two more teams and with the final standing of all six pools, the best three third places will also qualify for the next round. A total of 15 teams added to the Argentine Grass-Root team will make the next step with a total of 16 teams.
