ARG M: No.8 Monteros make little miracle as they down No.1 Bolívar, tying quarterfinal series at 1-1

Personal Bolívar disappointed their fans by losing Game 2 of the playoff quarterfinal series in the 2017/18 Argentinean men’s volleyball championship - Liga Argentina de Voleibol Banco Nación against Monteros Vóley Club.

The eighth-seed Monteros leveled the best-of-five quarterfinal series against No.1 Bolívar at 1-1 by beating the defending champions away in five sets, partially 26-24, 21-25, 16-25, 30-28 and 15-13. Now, the series moves to Monteros’ home ground as they will host the next two duels. Game 3 is scheduled for March 8.

Imports from Brazil stood out in the attack on both sides. Théo Lopes from Bolívar scored game-high 24 points, while Leandro Silva “Leandrão” topped Monteros with 22 points. Pablo Crer made 4 kill blocks for Bolívar, while Germán Figueroa made 7 kill blocks on the other side! Bolívar captain Leonardo Patti made 80% reception (67% perfect – 15 digs, 1 error).

All other higher seeds took a 2-0 lead in the series: No.2 UPCN San Juan Vóley Club, No.3 Lomas Vóley, and No.4 Ciudad Vóley.
