The member of the “green and gold” national team has undergone surgery last week to remove a malignant tumor in the neck.
However, because it was found in the initial phase, Walewska did not have to undergo chemotherapy.
The Brazilian Volleyball Federation said that Walewska is recovering well.
Olympic champion with the Brazilian national team at Beijing 2008, Walewska (33) was diagnosed to have cancer during routine examinations made by her club, Voley Amil ahead of the 2013/14 season.
