Approximately a month and a half ago, Marko Virta, the lawyer of a 22-year-old Cuban National Team middle blocker, revealed that his protégé will ask a record compensation from the Finnish government for the 362 days which he spent in prison before being cleared of raping a girl in Tampere hotel, in July 2016, during the FIVB World League weekend.
Now, the exact amount of money that Sosa and his lawyer will ask has been set and it is less than they initially wanted to claim. The player is going to sue the Finnish state for the 381,000 euros (about 448,000 dollars). It includes 1,000 euros (about 1,175 dollars) for each of the 362 days that the player has spent in prison before being released of charges and, in addition, the 20,000 euros (about 23,900 dollars) for losing a contract in Argentina (in Obras UDAP Voley), due to a prison sentence.
Unlike Sosa, the four other members of the Cuban National Team accused of the same crime will stay in jail and will serve reduced sentences.
