In Belgrade’s Hotel M Volleyball Association of Serbia organized the press conference. Coaches of both teams were present, and captains Jochen Schöps and Dragan Stanković, too.
In pleasant atmosphere all the participants at the press conference said what they expect this weekend.
Vital Heynen, asked to say what he expects from upcoming matches against Serbia, mentioned something interesting. “I must say a personal story. I am very disappointed to be here and I will tell you why. When I started my career as a volleyball player, my first international trip, my first time I stepped in a plane was in 1986 and a plane brought me to Niš. I played a training games for the European championship in Plovdiv, Bulgaria, so I was really looking forward to return to Niš after 26 years to see the same gym and the same hotel”.
Matches between Serbia and Germany were scheduled to Niš, but were moved to Belgrade because of the flooded court.
“We expect tough match and a great fight like we had for many years in past. It is a national team that we really respect not only because of the results they had against Serbia but also because of the team they have. They came with a changed roster than at the Olympics. We must win both matches if we want to go to Argentina and we won’t give up until the moment when we wouldn’t have even theoretical chances”, said Serbian head coach Igor Kolaković.
