GER M: Friedrichshafen score hard-fought win vs. Tirol in Game 1 of playoff semis

VfB Friedrichshafen got themselves a head start in the 2017/18 German men’s volleyball championship 1. Bundesliga playoff semifinals against Hypo Tirol AlpenVolleys Haching.

The top-seed VfB Friedrichshafen returned to the reality of a domestic championship after being kicked out from the Playoffs 6 of the 2018 CEV Champions League by the Polish side Zaksa Kędzierzyn-Koźle, a few days ago.

In Game 1 of the 2017/18 Bundesliga playoff semifinals, Friedrichshafen outplayed No.5 Hypo Tirol AlpenVolleys Haching in four sets, partially 21-25, 25-14, 25-22, 25-18, and now need one more win to progress to the finals.

David Sossenheimer topped the „Häfler“ with 15 points. Philipp Collin added 4 kill blocks and 73% attack (8/11). The Belgian Igor Grobelny scored 19 points for Tirol.

Yesterday, Berlin Recycling Volleys took a 1-0 lead against United Volleys Rhein-Main in the other semifinal.
