The transfer of the 2013 CEV EuroVolley and 2011 and 2013 FIVB Volleyball Nations League (ex-FIVB World League) winner Spiridonov to Greece’s Olympiacos, which was announced on the social media of the Russian Championship and by the player himself, hasn’t been completed.
“The deal with Olympiacos failed, they canceled the contract. That’s what happened. I had a contract in my hands, there was a verbal agreement to sign it. I’ll continue to look for a new team,” the famous Russian outside hitter stated.
Spiridonov’s manager added that a reason for not signing the contract remained unknown and said that he and a 32-year-old player will now look at the options in Turkey and in the Arab countries.
“Spirik” played last season for Ural, scoring 171 points in 17 matches.
