Until tonight, Panathinaikos were 11 years without a championship trophy. The “Greens“, the most-titled Greek League side, went through a lot in recent years, even reaching the point of playing in the Pre League (the 2nd division) due to financial problems, but managed to reach the top of the national volleyball again. The girls of Branko Gajić prevailed over the biggest sporting rivals in Greece, Olympiacos, on the road in the 5th final match of the 2021/22 Volley League Γυναικων with a score of 3-1 (25-23, 26-28, 21-25, 22-25) to make it 3-2 in the series. This was the 25th championship title for Panathinaikos by which the 8-year domination of Olympiacos came to an end.

Dutch Maret Grothues put down 23 points for Panathinaikos in Game 5, while Evangelia Chantava served 4 aces and set up 4 blocks.
