GRE M: PAOK’s 3-year domination comes to an end, Olympiacos win 28th championship title

Olympiacos S.F.P. won their 28th title in the Greek men’s volleyball championship.

The top-seed Olympiacos S.F.P. defeated reigning champions and No.2 P.A.O.K. by a 3-0 (25-22, 25-21, 25-20) in Game 3 to close the 2017/18 Volleyleague Pame Stoixima playoff finals with a sweep.

The Finnish Mikko Oivanen topped Olympiacos with 19 points. The Bulgarian Rafael Koumentakis scored 13 points for PAOK, whose three-year domination on Greece came to an end. Thanos Papadimitriou made 74% reception (27 digs, 59% excellent).

Olympiacos finished the season in the national championship as undefeated (22-0 in the regular season and 8-0 in the playoffs) to tie the performance of Iraklis Thessaloniki 2015 from the 2005/06 season.

Todor Aleksiev, the Bulgarian outside hitter from Olympiacos, was named the Most Valuable Player of Volleyleague.
