Trentino is the first one to make it into the 2013 league final. The world champions took on the bounce their first opportunity and swept Cuneo, which means they will take part in the sixth consecutive league final. Only Modena and Treviso managed such feat in the past.
Over 4000 fans were there to push their team to this record achievement. Contrary to game 2, the latest encounter was not really tight. In each set, Trentino had managed to escape in the scoreboard before even the second technical time out. Wijsmans shined with 59% at the net, while the block-dig area worked to perfection and Raphael distributed just fine to his spikers.
Osmany Juantorena (Itas Diatec Trentino): “Congratulations to everyone because it was not easy to seal the series in two games played. We made it because halfway through the first set we managed to shake off the tension and lack of confidence we also had in game 2 and loosen up. The 11 days without competition had definitely influenced us a bit but today we saw Trentino at its best. We’re thrilled, six finals in a row is not easy”.
Roberto Piazza (coach Bre Banca Lannutti Cuneo): “Both teams were tense at the beginning and made 3-4 mistakes. Then, Trentino stepped up and we could not stop them. This was a different Trento team compared to game 2, and you can’t let them play like we’ve done tonight. The serve and reception was the difference tonight”.
