Nearly a two-year-long invincibility of Prosecco Doc Imoco Volley Conegliano came to an end in Round 24 of the 2021/22 Italian Women’s Volleyball Championship.
After 720 days and 76 games won in a row, Prosecco Doc Imoco Volley Conegliano saw their streak that had lasted for almost two years stopped! The ‘Panthers’ lost 2-3 at home to Il Bisonte Firenze after two hours and seven minutes of a match of the 24th round of the 2021/22 Serie A1, played in advance. The last defeat of Imoco dates back to December 12, 2019, against Bartoccini-Fortinfissi Perugia. Il Bisonte did what several other clubs could have easily done this season in the Italian Championship as Imoco played tie-breaks with Monza, Busto, and Cuneo.
Il Bisonte were led by Sylvia Nwakalor (24 points) and Sara Panetoni (79% reception; 24 digs, one error, 50% perfect). Paola Egonu scored 34 ponts for Imoco. American Megan Courtney made 79% reception (19 digs, one error, 53% perfect).
