After being accused of racism during the last season’s playoffs of the Italian Men’s Volleyball Championship, the legendary setter Dragan Travica decided to make a counter-attack.
An unsportsmanlike part of the dispute between Leo Shoes PerkinElmer Modena and Sir Safety Conad Perugia during Game 1 of the 2021-22 SuperLega playoff semi-final cost Yoandy Leal a heavy disqualification. Dragan Travica, now a former Perugia setter (agreed to move to Greece and play for Olympiacos S.F.P.), announced that he had filed complaints against the Cuban player with a Brazilian passport and Frenchman Earvin Ngapeth for the accusations of racism that his opponents had addressed to him in the post-match. Sports justice court had cleared Travica of all charges a couple of months ago, but the former Italy National Team member had announced that there would be a counter-attack on his side and sue both Leal and Ngapeth.
