Top Volley Latina was not satisfied with the ouburst on social networks of its former player Matteo Paris. The member of Serie A1 issued a statement signed by its sporting director Candido Grande, who was also mentioned by Paris.

„I am very sorry to read the accusations of ’bad faith’ that the player Matteo Paris has spoken against the club and me. No one ever wanted to make a damage to the athlete and why would we ever do that? We just stuck to what the Regulations of Federation provide regarding the membership of the players as it was indicated in the contract signed by both parties,“ Latina and Grande stated.

„All (if not athletes, at least the attorneys who manage them) know, or should know, that athletes are enrolled and then eventually transferred to other clubs in Serie A during the Volleyball Market which is held in July, since many years ago. If in that case the athletes are not licensed or transferred, they lose the chance to play in the 1st round of the season and may be fielded after the 3rd game of the season,“ it was added on Latina’a website.

„For this reason the athlete Matteo Paris has been registered by the our club, not by another. If we had not done that and the athlete had signed a contract with another club in Serie A, we would not be able to have him for the 1st round of the season. This was the perspective from which the club operates, we repeat, according to the regulations of the Italian Volleyball Federation and the contract signed with the player.“

Latina and Grande added that Paris was allowed to play in Greece from where he had offers and doesn’t think the club made damage to him.
