Italy still have a chance to reach Rio… Turkey will not play at the next Olympic Games! That is the outcome of the super exciting 3rd place game in Ankara! Italy managed to defeat Turkey on the road and to secure a ticket for the World Olympic Qualifier where they will have another chance to qualify for the Olympic Games 2016.
Eventually, one block made difference on this match. At the score 14:13 Paola Ebonu failed to close the match, so Turkey had a counter-atack and a big chance to tie the score. Neriman Ozsoy went for a spike… She got blocked – 15:13 and 3-2 for Italy!
Paola Egonu was the top scorer in the winning team with 23 points, while Martina Guiggi added 13. Speaking about the hosts, Neriman Ozsoy and Eda Erdem scored 19 points each for Turkey.
