Uijeongbu KB Insurance Stars stood out at the very beginning of the South Korean Men’s Volleyball Championship – KOVO V-League.

In South Korean club volleyball, many things depend on a good choice of foreign players. In terms of this, the KB Stars have chosen well! The Portuguese receiver Alexandre Ferreira was once again a key player for the club from Uijeongbu, who reached a 2-0 record in the league after beating titleholders Cheonan Hyundai Capital Skywalkers 3-0 (31-29, 25-18, 25-14). Ferreira made 16 points for the winning side. The Greek international Andreas Fragkos scored 10 points for the Skywalkers.

What the KB Stars did in Men’s competition, Suwon Hyundai Engineering & Construction Hillstate did in Women’s. They also got a 2-0 and also got it over the defending champions – 3-2 vs. Hwaseong IBK Industrial Bank Altos. A player from the USA, Elizabeth Campbell, topped Hyundai with 35 points. Her compatriot Madison Kingdon-Rishel noted 31 points on the other side. Even 6 kill blocks from Kim Hee-Jin did not help the Altos to avoid a defeat, today.
