The third stage of the 2020/21 Chinese Women’s Super League has started today but slightly modified in relation to what was determined prior to the season.
This stage was supposed to be the playoff in which the top eight teams from the two stages of the regular season are to participate. Instead, three new pools were formed, of which two (C and D) consist of the top eight teams from the second stage, while the third pool (E) consists of the teams ranked below the eighth place in the regular season.
At the beginning of the third stage, in Pool D, Shanghai beat Beijing in the classic of the Chinese women’s volleyball in four sets, leaving rivals at single digits in the opening set. German Louisa Lippmann top-scored Shanghai with 21 points, while American Jordan Larson stood out in reception (80 %; 80 % perfect).
In the same pool, Jiangsu swept Shandong, while Tianjin and Liaoning achieved wins in Pool C.
