Dominican Republic dominated Brazil 3-1 in Pool A at the U-18 Girls Pan American Cup. Brayelin Martinez, Galia Gonzalez, Maria Garcia led the Dominicans, Drussyla Costa was best in the Brazilian team.

It was an exciting first match between both teams already qualified for the World Championship. Dominicans had a scare when Brazil won the third set by a fifteen point difference but managed to turn things in their favor.

Brayelin Martinez led Dominicans with 19 points, accompanied by Galia Gonzalez and Maria Garcia with 18 and 10 points respectively, while Drussyla Costa was the leader for the Brazilian side with 21 points.
