It was an exciting first match between both teams already qualified for the World Championship. Dominicans had a scare when Brazil won the third set by a fifteen point difference but managed to turn things in their favor.

“This is only one match, we haven’t won anything yet. My team was overconfident in the third set and Brazil definitely took advantage” said Brayelin Martinez captain of Dominican Republic.
Lorenne Geraldo spoke calmly accepting that Dominicans deserved to win, “they were superior and we were too nervous”
Wagner Pacheco, coach for the winners indicated “this is the first time both teams have met and it was a tough match for both, we need to play more frequently with teams of this high performance. I’m satisfied with the victory.”
Mauricio Thomas coach of Brazil said “Dominicans dominated us with their best attributes: attack and blocking. My team was very anxious and we had faults in our defense.”
