As for the teams that are set to play hosts Germany in prelim Pool A, they had showed ups and downs in their last appearances.
Spain lost three times in a row to Belgium, taking home only one set out of these games with the last one ending in a speedy 0:3 (21-25, 20-25, and 18-25).
The Netherlands, the second opponent for team Germany in the prelims, are about to travel to Halle/Westfalen after winning their last friendly match with the Czech Republic, winners of last year’s European League, with the score of 3:1 (25-22, 20-25, 25-13, and 25-23).
Turkey, bronze medalist in 2011, a possible contender for the podium in Berlin, are also still searching for their best shape after losing twice to Bulgaria on their way to the “Gerry Weber Stadion”, venue of prelim Pool A.
