In efforts to continue the development of volleyball in Australia, the city of Gosford has decided to host a Cool Volley Program, to provide opportunities for children and young people to enjoy sport, make new friends, learn new skills, acquire self-discipline habits and learn to compete fairly.

Earlier this month, the Gosford City Council passed a motion to support the program and the development of volleyball in their regional city.

“Given the growing popularity of volleyball at an international, national and state level, council has resolved to support the development of this sport across the local community,” according to the City Council.

“In doing so, council will make the Niagara Park Stadium available for primary and high schools activities including: introductory skills sessions, an Expo event and a base for the future Gosford Volleyball Academy.

“The Council will also assist in locating potential grants to support the further development of this sport at a local level.

The city also recently completed a 24 Hour Volleyball Marathon, to raise much needed funds for the children at the local hospital.

The FIVB’s “Cool Volley” campaign aims to attract young people to participate in volleyball and beach volleyball. It promotes volleyball as an easy, fun and competitive way of playing.
