The names of three of the four playoff semifinalists in the 2022–23 Chinese Women’s Volleyball Championship are known.
The 2022-23 Women’s Super League has its first semi-finalists; three of the four quarter-final series ended in Game 2.
The big surprise is the elimination of Beijing: the team from the capital, which had invested a lot for this season by signing foreign players of high caliber (Casanova, Lazović…) surrendered with a double 0-3 to the Fujian, completely falling apart in the second set of the second match (25-11).
The other two favorites on the eve had no problems: the unbeatable Tianjin, the reigning champions, after the relative difficulties of Game 1, crushed Shandong with a sharp 3-0 (25-12, 25-15, 25-23) in Game 2 thanks to 22 points by Li Yingying.
Shanghai, who after a difficult first set (26-24) clearly dominated against Liaoning, did the same.
The only matchup that will be decided in Game 3 is between Shenzhen and Jiangsu: the team formed through collaboration with the Serbian federation managed to turn the series around. Shenzhen lost 0-3 in Game 1 and were 0-2 in sets in the second match, winning 3-2. Serb Sara Klisura, the author of 25 points, made a fundamental contribution. The decisive match for qualification will take place on Saturday, December 31.
