Brazil coach Jose Roberto Guimaraes: I’m happy about the result; we played a really good match today. In serve, in block, in defence, in counterattacks, we made few mistakes. Of course, now we have to prepare for Russia; we have two more hard games and my dream is to decide this competition with Japan [on Sunday].
Brazil captain Fabiana Claudino: I think we played a good match today, and our serving and blocking is getting better and that all contributed to our winning today.
Belgium coach Gert Vande Broek: Congratulations to Brazil, not only for the result – it’s not surprising losing 3-0 to Brazil – but for the way they played today. Tactically, they were excellent. They gave us no opportunity in receiving and in attacking, so there was almost no way to score against them. Everyone can see they are great champions. It’s actually very good to lose this way to learn from these matches. What Brazil did today was a good example in coaching and tactics. I’m disappointed, but not because we lost. I can’t complain because we had no chance today. This is a different level, we have to admit, but we will prepare the team to be mentally fit for tomorrow to play Japan.
Belgium captain Charlotte Leys: First of all, congratulations to Brazil. I think it’s the first time we’ve played Brazil and they gave us a lesson today. They showed there is a big difference between Brazil and Belgium. They started with a good serve and we had a lot of reception mistakes and we couldn’t find an answer. Tried to find a solution with their big blocks but it was hard to score. I hope we can have a better game tomorrow.
