“Foreign women as employees of embassies, the families of foreign teams or other foreign women living in Iran can attend the competition” said Mahmoud Afshardoost, high official of Iranian Volleyball Federation, for Islamic Republic News Agency.

Insidethegames.biz website writes that Iranian Volleyball Federation made this decision to improve the general reputation in volleyball world, so that it might apply for organizing some big event in the future. However, Iranian female fans are still banned from attending the volleyball games in their home country, and that would still be a big obstacle for Iran in getting the organization of any major tournament.
