Iran has defeated Russia on the road for the second time in two days! Boys led by Slobodan Kovač were even more convincing on Sunday, as they did not let their hosts to take even a single set!
Away squad was especially good in the third set in which they performed a big comeback. It was 16:13 for Russia, but Iran made a 5:0 run to take the lead at 18:16… They finished the match in style – with an ace!
Mojtaba Mirzajanpourmouziraji was once again leading the winning side, while he had a big help from Shahram Mahmoudi. Both of them scored 17 points.
With this massive win, Iran has totally returned to the race for the Final Six, while it is needless to say that Russia is in huge, huge problem. Andrey Voronkov and his team will now have to look how to avoid relegation to Group 2 of the World League…
