Cuba has finally broken a losing streak. After 5 defeats in a row, this team has outplayed Algeria in straight sets – 3-0 (25:17, 25:16, 25:14) and scored its second win at the World Cup 2015. Sulian Caridad Matienzo Linares was the top scorer of the game with 18 points.
In the second match of the day, Dominican Republic collected all three points against Peru – 3-1 (25:18, 25:19, 22:25, 25:17). Yonkaira Pena scored 17 points for the winning side, while Gina Mumbru added 16.
Still both Cuba and Dominican Republic has almost no chances to reach one of the top two spots on the standings, which are leading to the Olympic Games 2016.
