BUL M: Bulgaria’s boys claim Balkan Youth Championship

Bulgaria finished atop of the charts at the Balkan Men’s Youth Championship sponsored by Halkbank that were completed on Sunday in Bucharest after edging Turkey in the last and deciding match to determine the composition of the podium.

A total of 8 teams participated in the tournament starting their campaign via two preliminary groups of four teams each. Bulgaria and Bosnia & Herzegovina finished first and second in Pool A while Turkey and Romania topped the standings of Pool B. Bulgaria advanced to the final after beating Romania at the end of a very close five-setter while Turkey hammered a 3:0 win to cruise past their opponents from Bosnia & Herzegovina.

After losing the first set 16-25, Bulgaria pocketed the next three (25-16, 25-18, and 25-23) in the final match with Turkey to re-claim the Balkan crown after two years.
