The Czech Republic downed Latvia 3:0 (25-15, 25-20, and 25-11) to open the daily program but the winners of the 2012 European League got to stand some fierce resistance in the second set before Latvia made many mistakes in the deciding final rush.

The home heroines of Bulgaria edged Hungary (25-13, 25-18, and 25-16) without any problems and tomorrow will fight with the Czechs for the first place in the group.

We played a good match today; the team is improving in terms of speed and quality and I think tomorrow we’ll be able to play our best” said home mentor Marcello Abbondanza.

We played much better than we did yesterday against the Czechs even though we lost with the same score. Yesterday I said that we had a very short time to prepare for this tournament but my players are improving day by day. I hope that tomorrow we’ll step up even more and be able to beat Latvia” stressed Hungary’s coach Lajos Nemeth.
