St Lucia bossed the championship match 3-1 (25-22, 25-17, 22-25, 25-19) over St Kitts, to claim the gold in the Eastern Caribbean Volleyball Association (ECVA) Men’s championships here at the indoor facility on Sunday night.

The win kept the St Lucians spotless record intact and retention of the title won in 2010.

On the night, St Lucia was playing without their influential captain, Jason Octave, who had returned to the United States of America, where he is residing, but their explosive hitter, Joseph Clercent was in sublime form as he has been throughout the tournament. Clercent contributed 39 points to his team’s efforts.

Added to the home team’s effort was the fillip provided by a supportive crowd which cheered every move. St Lucia in the preliminary round had taken out the Kittians by the same margin.

The ECVA triumph earns St Lucia a berth in next year’s senior Men’s Continental Cup.
