A total of 5 players got to Romania’s capital city, including US American spiker Regan Elizabeth Hood, two players of Slovakia’s national team – i.e. setter Ivana Zburova and libero Dominika Valachova – plus Moldavian middle blocker Tatiana Lupu and local heroine Mirela Corjeuteanu. The start of this international campaign was sanctioned by a press conference attended by local officials, journalists and representatives of the sponsors. “We are not afraid of our opponents and even though we know we start as underdogs in some matches, we still believe we can go for good results. We want to claim our first win in the Champions League; we know that Unendo Yamamay BUSTO ARSIZIO and Galatasaray ISTANBUL are part of the European elite, but I think we can have our own chances as we play – especially at home – France’s ASPTT MULHOUSE” said Marian Stefan.
“It is extremely important for us to play in the Champions League. We got a good draw and I also believe that we can make it to the Playoffs or, if things do not go that well, that we can finish third in the group and be moved to the Challenge Round of the CEV Cup” added team captain Alida Marcovici.
