Skowrońska-Dolata, one of the most famous female Volleyball players in the world in the last 15 years, officially announced retirement from professional Volleyball at the age of 36.

The two-time European champion with Poland National Team (2003 and 2005) gave an interview for Przegląd Sportowy in which she explained why she decided to end her career.

“I executed my plan. After the injury that I suffered in January 2017 in the Italian League, when I tore the anterior cruciate ligament in my right knee, I returned to playing. I didn’t finish my career in Bergamo, as I assumed before. At the end of rehabilitation after an injury, a proposal from Brazil appeared. My beloved coach Zé Roberto talked me into playing. So I flew there and signed a contract with Hinode Barueri. However, I didn’t play much in the 2017/18 season, that’s why I decided to stay for one more. It was a lot of fun, but I also had good results. In my life I never think about my age but about individual statistics. Of course, I would like to get more in the Brazilian League, but we were eliminated in the quarterfinals. I feel unsatisfied, but you need to know when to get off the stage. Everyone praised me after this season, but I think that this is the perfect time to say stop. I waited a long time to make this decision. I had to mature to it,” the MVP of the 2010 FIVB World Club Championship and Best Scorer of the 2008 CEV Champions League, 2010 FIVB World Club Championship and 2007 FIVB World Cup stated.
