Some former Poland national team players were disappointed that once again the foreigner was chosen to this position. On the other hand, the PZPS board members are certain the Belgian expert Vital Heynen has the background which absolutely qualifies him to be at the helm of one of the most successful men’s volleyball national teams in the world.

“He presented a very good program, which board member also liked, not just me.  He has a very interesting concept for introducing young players. I did not want to make a big revolution right away. We really wanted to diagnose where the mistake was because in the last year a cup of bitterness poured over,” the PZPS president Kasprzyk stated to Polsat Sport and explained why he avoided appointing a domestic coach.

“I think the material which he presented to us (60 pages of material) was very important to us. He showed us it’s not all bad with Polish volleyball. However, we must pay attention to the mentality, because young players are lost somewhere before they become older and better. It is very important that Heynen wants to connect youth with experience,” he added.
