Two of the three medalists in the last season’s national championship were eliminated from the 2020 Kubok Rossii for women.
In a decisive match for the progression to the Final Four, in Pool B, the hosts Lokomotiv fall to Leningradka by a 3-1 (20-25, 25-22, 25-20, 25-16). The Saint Petersburg side claimed the top spot in the pool, while the Superliga silver medalists surprisingly lost the chance to fight for the trophy.
The other favorite that remained empty-handed regarding the participation at the Final Four is Uralochka-NTMK. The Ekaterinburg team, the hosts of Pool C, lost from Dinamo Krasnodar in the tie-break in the only match of the pool.
The remaining two participants of the final tournament, which will be held in Moscow on December 19-20, are Dinamo-Ak Bars (Pool A winners) and Dinamo Moscow (Pool D winners).
