Russia will have to wait until August to find out whether it will remain in the World League Group 1.

Recall that President of the Russian Volleyball Federation Stanislav Shevchenko stated that it is possible for Russia to remain in the World League Group 1, despite finishing this year’s campaign as the last placed team.

Now, there is another glimmer of hope for Russia which is coming directly from the FIVB.

“FIVB will hold the annual meeting in August when the official regulations for the World League will be approved. The participation of Russia in the Group 1 is not confirmed. We will consider all possible options and then make the final decision at the meeting” stated Richard Baker, press officer of the FIVB for Russian media.
