Vadim Khamuttskikh, volleyball coach at Belogorie Belgorod, stated that Gyorgy Grozer might have made a bad call when he decided to go to Korea last summer.

“This season is very difficult for us, but we knew it would be like that even before the start. With Gennadiy Shiipulin being ill, we had a tough job, especially because the team has significantly changed in the comparison to the previous season. Like many other clubs, we were not able to deal with the economic crisis, so we lost some important players. Gyorgy Grozer went to Korea where he is scoring half of his team’s points during the game, but he has forgotten how to block and to receive. Largely because of this, Germany lost against Russia and against Poland at the European Olympic Qualifier and failed to qualify for Rio 2016” said Khamuttskikh for the official website of Belogorie Belgorod.

You are absolutely right Vadim. Grozer didn’t play on expected level during Olympic Qualifications. The biggest reason is he is playing (and not practicing) this season in Korea. But many would say: but he’s taking money? Yes, but this is another example you cannot have everything

Grozer did not ‘decide’ to go to Korea. He was sent there by belgorod without any prior warning. The official reasoning was that they had to let muserskij play opposite to support the national team. Of course that was bs. They just had no money to pay him.

Is it possible that Belgorod does not have money? And he had to sign also for Korean team, Belgorod couldnot sign for him…

Yes, thats possible. Due to sanctions and low oil prices, there are a lot of economical problems in Russia. A lot of russian volleyball teams suffer accordingly. Just look at Lokomotiv Novosibirsk…….

Grozer was told by late September that he has to leave on loan (he still has valid contract for next year). So there were not many options left for him, as almost every european team had already completed their rosters. How far belgorod was involved in the Korean deal remains open to speculations.

The money he is taking in Korea (not invluded the money payed for loan) is much more than the money he could get in any club in Europe. Maybe in Turkey, but who would risk now to go to Turkey and get himself exploded somewhere on the street? But, we’ll never know, people are ready to risk for the money. So if there’s no money anymore in Belgorod, also for bext year he will be loaned somewhere? But where? Who will be ready to pay him lot of money that he will ask and also to pay to Belgorod? Maybe HALKBANK?
