“They won the European Championship and that means they played well. We proved once again that we are the best team in Europe. We had a lot of young players but who will win, if not the young once? Old players, or what? I talked to the head coach and refused to join the national team. He wanted to see me in the squad but I have a pregnant wife, she needed help. I congratulate Sergey Shlyapnikov, who achieved a great victory. As for me, they won everything without me, why should we change that?” asks Spiridonov.
