WCH 2018 M: Brazil like a hurricane! Renan Dal Zotto's side smash Serbia to enter the final!

712 0

Brazil will play for the World Championship gold, after beating Serbia 3-0 (25-22, 25-21, 25-22) in the semifinals.

Simply, Brazil had everything on their side while Serbia didn't have that energy they had during the whole tournament.

Brazil opened a game with a 3-0 scoring run as Bruno Rezende scored two aces! The Serbian lads entered the match with a small dose of nervous, making a few mistakes from the service line and allowing the rival to receive the ball in a perfect way. At the second TTO, Brazil had a 16-11 lead, thanks to a good service of Mauricio Souza.

For the first time in this game, Marko Ivovic sent a good serve to score an ace and to force Brazil to make two mistakes for a 4-0 run (16-15). Brazil managed to increase the lead to 20-17, however, Serbia answered back with a 2-0 run (20-19).

After changing the setter, Renan Dal Zotto’s side again managed to earn three points of advantage 23-20. It was a difficult task for the Serbian side to make another comeback and the first set went to Brazil 25-23.

The start of the third set was much more uncertain but that didn't last long. Serbia were in the race until 15:15 and then we saw Lucas Saatkamp in action! With two blocks and a few good actions of his teammates, they quickly got to a big lead 24-18! Marko Podrascanin only managed to decrease the advantage of the rival with good serves, but Brazil doubled the lead 2-0.

Serbia definitely started better the third set, creating a 3-0 lead. Nikola Grbic's side managed to keep it only for a few minutes, as the Brazilian team tied the score (9:9). Renan Dal Zotto made two substitutions (Arjona - Rezende, Guerra - Wallace) to try to take the lead in this set.

After Serbia created a new advantage (15-12), Brazil with some good actions managed to create a 4-0 scoring run and to take the lead at the second TTO! It was a tough moment for the Serbian side, that didn't manage to recover and we are going to watch Brazil in a battle for gold tomorrow!

Semifinals:

Brazil - Serbia 3-0 (25-22, 25-21, 25-22)

Poland - USA 21:15 CET

ITA M: Lube stay without a head coach – Medei resigns!

I agree with almost all you said. But the thing with grebennikov is much more difficult. Grebennikov is French and Lube desperately needed one italian libero to make space for Leal. They chose good, but this guy played before for Padova (if I am not wrong) without any pressure to win. Reply

ITA M: Lube stay without a head coach – Medei resigns!

Unfortunately, this was expected. I was surprised this hasn't happened after last season and 5 lost finals. It's always a coach that pays the price since it is easier to fire a coach vs the whole team.

It was the same in Perugia at the beginning of last season, when Atanasijevic was injured and didn't play so Perugia lost few games in the row. Sirci immediately fired Kovac, who made that team and save them previous season and brought Bernardi. Coincidentally Atanasijevic recovered at the same time and Perugia started winning. And glory goes to Bernardi :)

I love Lube but they simply have too many good players on the team and they need a coach who is a good psychologist. After losing 6 finals, they have a serious problem.

After their game vs Zenit, when they saved 8 match points, I expected them to walk over Trentino in finals. But they were nowhere to be found.
Lubre fired Christensen to bring Bruno, which was the mistake in my opinion. Christensen was the soul of that team after playing so many years for Lube.

They did an unfair thing to Sada by bringing Simon who was under contract with Sada. They brought Leal as well. He is a great player but he doesn't fit into already established attack formation with Sokolov as 1st attack option and Juantorena as 2nd.

Juantorena is 33 so he should have been replaced with Leal who is 29 if that is a long-term strategy.

But what hurt Lube the most is the fact they lost Grebennikov, who is the best libero in the world. Not sure what happened here, but Lube couldn't find a proper replacement and that is where their defense has a problem.

POL M: The Italian international to join Budowlani Lodz?

Rather, she can play Chemik, because Abbondazza is an Italian trainer. Reply
